Hope:

My hope is to become a pastry chef in England or France. I always dreamed of this because I love baking and that is what I want to become when I am old. Since I remember I always wanted to be a chef but I only like to bake pastries so I will be a pastry Chef. I always hope about this because I think that is an incredible topic and someday I hope I have a job in pastry Chef.

Milestone:

I chose to learn French since maybe I what to study in France and the French language will help me. Also it will help me because every single Chef needs to study French to become a real Chef. It will also help me by knowing another language that I will probably use one day. This helps my skills to grow up and to be more intelligent.  Also It helps my knowledge. 

Roles

Child:

I have been a child since I was born. According to my parents I been the best child I could ever be. In my role as a child I had been happy because I had a great life playing with my family. With my sister I played and explored our childhood. The last few years I have not been a child, but I don’t miss it.

Student:

I’ve been a student since I was 6 months old. My mother took me to baby classes. Then when I was 2 years old enter to the nursery. I learned a lot of things in the nursery. I enter to pre kinder in Colegio Americano de Quito when I was 4 years old. I graduated kinder and enter to elementary school when I was 6 years old. And I graduated of 6^th grade to go to 7^th grade when I was 12 years old.  

Sister:

I’ve been a sister since my sister was born in 2004 in May 31. I am learning to be a sister my whole life. It’s a difficult work since sisters don’t cooperate. They cry all the time and they make like if they are innocent.  Sisters are always complicated to deal with because they are bothering you all the time. But besides all I love my sister. 

Decisions

When I began 8^th grade it was the first time we got lockers.  The first day we received the password in a piece of paper.  A lot of people had trouble opening lockers for the first time. In that moment I realized that I was the first person that could open the locker without help.

If only I knew basketball was so fun I would enter the team sooner. Today was the first class I stayed in basketball. I liked basketball since I was with my friends and they encouraged me to make shot to the ring.

It started out as an ordinary day, but then I saw this beautiful jacket that was blue with stripes. I wanted it so badly, I told my parents if they could buy me the jacket. We entered to the store and they bought me the jacket. I was so happy.

Emotions

Disappointments: When I was 6 years old I found out that Santa Claus was not real and I was very disappointed since I wrote letters to him.

Achievements: I have achieved to make a video to participate in a Multimedia Fair and I stood in my booth from 7:00am to 5:00pm.

Conflicts: Capoeria classes have taught me to avoid conflicts. I’m proud to say I have had no conflicts in my life.

Fears: My biggest fear since I had 6 years old was dogs. I have a lot of fear when I see them. My skin always turns red and I start to sweat.

Luck: My family and I went to a bingo. Every member of my family won a prize.

Enemies:  I really don’t have any enemies. I haven’t fight with any one and I hope never to have an enemy.

Gratitude: I am grateful to all my family since I have nothing to really do in my life, just study. I have a nice home and food to eat.

Jealousy:  Since I avoid conflicts and have no enemies, jealousy is not something I can remember. I can vaguely remember to be a little jealous of my sister when she was born.

Fear:

One day I went to my grandmother’s house and my aunt lived there so she had a dog named Falcon. He was a big golden retriever. When I finish eating I went outside to play with the dog and my aunt. It was so funny. Later when we were returning to our house, the dog ran and knocked me off. Since then my  fear of dogs increased. Small, big any type of dog. Every time I see a dog I scream or hide because I have a fear of the dog to bite me or push me. Since that incident I haven’t touched a dog because they are scary animals.

Achievement:

One day the technology teacher introduced the class to a competition that was about making a video to teach the world something. Julia and I thought we could try to make a video. We stated building a house with Legos but when we were in the middle of the house there were not enough legos. Then we had to pick one of my sister’s doll houses. Then we stated filming our stop motion video. When we finished it we hand it to the teacher. Julia and I thought that we were not going to pass to the next level but then the teacher called us and told us that we passed. We were so happy. So we remade the video and hand it over, then we went to the UDLA and presented this video to open public and we stood in our booth since 7:00am to 5:00pm. We did not won gold medal but we had accomplished to talk to a lot of people in a booth about a project we made.

The tell tale heart

This short story is about the narrator that calls himself the man and an old man's vulture eye. The man worked for the old man but he hates seeing that vaulted eye because it gave them cold feelings so every night at midnight he went to the old mans room and see the eye with a flashlight. In the eight night that the man went to the man's bedroom he did not hold his feelings and wanted to kill the old man because he did not support that vulture eye so he went and he killed him because he thought that those feelings would stop. Then the police came and he was felling so guilty because he heard the old man heart beating so he just said to the cops that he has killed the old man.



“Yes. He was dead! Dead as stone!”
This shows that the narrator doesn't react well to other peoples things when the narrator doesn't like them. And he is not passion and that he doesn't think of the consequences before doing something

“ ‘Yes! Yes, I killed him. Pull up the boards and you shall see!’ ”.

This shows that he narrator has a heart and feels guilty of what he did because he has heard the heartbeat of the Old Man. And that he can admit to the police at what he was wrong to do at frist.

The Monkey's Paw

The short story is about a family, Mr and Mrs White and his son Herbert White. One day Major Major Morris, a friend of Mr. White, came to Mr. White's house and he talked about the Monkey's Paw that was a talisman that made 3 wishes. And Major Major Morris gave that to Mr.White so he wanted money since he has problems of paying the house. His first wish was two hundred dollars. One day a man came with bad news to the White's house, he said that his son was dead and his factory had nothing to do about it, but they paid the Whites two hundred dollars and his first wish came true. The Whites had all this money but they were very hurt because their son was dead so Mrs White had a great idea to make another wish wishing this son back. Mr.White wished that his son was back, but then all the house was dark and they heard someone knocking on the door and Mrs White thought it was his son so she ran to open the door, but Mr White thought he was like a monster and he made the third wish to not bring back his son.  


“Badly hurt," he said quietly, "but he is not in any pain."

This shows that the man of the factory Maw and Meggins is telling the White family in a way that his Son Herbert White is dead because he got stuck in a machine. 


"WISH!" she cried in a strong voice."It is foolish and wicked," he faltered."WISH!" repeated his wife.

This shows that Mrs. White was desperate to get back his son  Herbert White because he has a grate idea since they were depressed that his son was dead and the Whites has two more wishes. So he is shouting to his Husband to make the wish quickly because they wanted their son back.

Elsewhere

Summary 

Jonas's father was going to release one twin because there can not be two equal babies in the community. And Jonas wanted to watch but he was to late. The Giver told him that they make tapes for every release so he went to see the tape. He didn't know what was happening he only heard his father talking to the baby and suddenly his father inserted a needle to the baby's forehead and left her there. Then Jonas realized that his father had KILLED the baby. Then he saw his father dumping the child through a dark tunnel. Jonas didn't what to go home, his father had lie about what release meant. He thought that Fiona will be so upset when she knew what release meant. Then he and the Giver made a plan so Jonas could escape to elsewhere so the people in the community see all the memories that the elders had keep them form seeing. The Giver told him that he had the capacity to hear beyond not the capacity to see beyond, he heard music. Then the Giver told Jonas that he needed to stay in the community and when his work is done he will be with his daughter Rosemary. At  night his father told Jonas that Gabe was going to be released, Jonas was very upset so he changed all his plans and went running with Gabe taking his father bike because it had the children sit. Jonas transmitted memories to Gabe so he could sleep. After riding a lot of time they saw their first water fall and they saw wild life like a bird or a deer and also a squirrel. Then they saw snow and he was freezing so he recalled a memory of sunshine and transmitted some to Gabe. Then he saw a hill, he went up and there was a sled. He saw downhill and he new he almost was in elsewhere. Jonas grabbed Gabe and went down the hill in the sled. He started hearing that thing called music and seeing lights.

Text Reference

"You have the colors, The Giver told him. And you have the courage. I will help you to have the strength." (157).

I think this quote means that Jonas need strength to escape from the community because it will be a very hard job and there will be not enough food or water so he need to survive. But he couldn't learn the strength he needed because he realized Gabe was going to get released and he needed to change all his plan and go immediately with him.  And he couldn't receive that strength the Giver was going to give him.


"Using his final strength, and a special knowledge that was  deep inside him, Jonas found the sled that was waiting for them at the top of the hill" (179).

I think that this quote means that he was in a memory because that was what the Receiver was about, getting memories from the entire world. Also I think that the author was trying to say in a figurative way that there was a special knowledge that was deep inside him . Also I think that he was so exhausted he died and had that last special memory so he could die in peace.


Final Thoughts 

In conclusion I think that this book ended horrible, I needed to know how it really ended. Did he died? Did he reached elsewhere? Well, I think he didn't arrived to elsewhere because they referred to elsewhere as heaven. Also I think he died before he arrived because there was snow and he was freezing and he was starving and he did not know how to ride a sled. I think he died because he
saw lights and then it finishes.

What is Release

Summary

It was a new day for Jonas he went to train and the Giver transmitted him a memory about WAR. Jonas didn't know what was that, he realized that there was pain in the citizens. The next day he remembered about the previous memory so the Giver gave him a memory of  a birthday party and then he got another memory and he understood love. Then the Giver transmitted a memory that was in a room with people including grandparents and there was a Christmas tree, Jonas felt something different that day he felt LOVE. He was so curious about knowing what love was that he ask his parents put they told him that love is a meaningless world, then Jonas stop taking the pills so he could feel love. The next day there was an announcement that there was no school that day. Then Jonas went to the playground where their friends were playing a game of war. He realized people in his community didn't felt real feelings, their feelings were shallow.  Then he went to his house and heard that twins were going to be born and that one needed to be released. Then he asked about the failure Receiver, her name was Rosemary and she asked for release. And when Rosemary got released the memories that she had came to all citizens.

Text Reference:

"The Giver was gentle with him for many days following the terrible shared memory of war" (121)

I think that this quote means that the memory of war is a memory of pain because there is a lot of death and you can experience thirst and loss. Also I think that Jonas needed to see many good memories so the memory of war does not ruin him, because Rosemary could not take all the painful memories and released herself.

"'I think about my own release when I am in a awful lot of pain'" (139)

I think this quote means that the pain that the Giver is feeling so many pain. It means that sometimes he doesn't want to be the Giver because there are so many bad things about that assignment. Also I think that Jonas doesn't know what release means. I think release means that you could go to elsewhere were Jonas is having the memories off.

Final Thought:   

I think that Jonas is going to realize that the community is a bad place that is not perfect because they don't have feelings. And if they don't have real feelings they can treat anyone however they like and don't feel regret, sadness, loss, etc.  Also I think that to be a community/family you need to know what people are feeling so you can make them feel better or feel good for them, don't you? Don't you think that Jonas's community is fake? Also I predict that Jonas is going to have enough of the community and he is going to pack his things and leave leaving all the things behind.
